On Tuesday, some Samsung smart refrigerators stopped working after upgrading their firmware. Affected are Samsung Bespoke AI series refrigerators, mostly four-door refrigerators produced in 2024 or later. The affected refrigerator suddenly lost power and stopped working immediately after attempting a firmware update via Samsung’s SmartThings smart home platform. The SmartThings app then shows that these refrigerators are offline. The user complains that they have to throw away all the food in the fridge. South Korea is on a mid-autumn break, and Samsung customer service has told customers it may not be until next month for repairs. Samsung said in a statement that they are working to resolve the issue and ensure customers have a good Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
