San Francisco-based startup Firebird is operational in a data center in Armenia. By the end of next year, the center will have 300 megawatts of installed capacity and deploy more than 70,000 of Nvidia’s most advanced chips. One-fifth of its hashrate is set aside for domestic use – to support local research, government, and startup ecosystems – and the rest is allocated to foreign companies, including U.S. companies like Perplexity AI. Located about 45 kilometers (28 miles) from the capital Yerevan, the complex in the town of Herazdan promises to be the largest computing cluster in the region and will rank among the largest in Europe, according to Firebird.
