TSMC Acquires Youda Optoelectronics Taichung Plant and Related Facilities for Approximately $1.2 Billion

36Kr has learned that, according to an announcement from the Taiwan Stock Exchange, TSMC has acquired nine factories and related facilities in Taichung City from AU Optronics Corporation for a total transaction amount of NT$38.8 billion (US$1.2 billion) for operational and production use. AU Optronics announced that it expects a gain of approximately NT$18.5 billion from the disposal. The company is committed to an asset-light operating model, revitalizing assets, and improving its financial structure.
