Another Wave of Legacy Parts Hits EOL: Build the Early Warning Now

Mature-node legacy parts are moving into EOL and NRND status in batches. Manufacturers typically give 6-12 months notice with a last-time-buy window; once it closes, only inventory and broker quotes remain, and both price and authenticity risk rise.

The riskiest lines are the ones nobody has touched: a BOM unchanged for a decade, part numbers long discontinued, and purchasing still requesting the old number and taking whatever is offered.

A quarterly BOM health check helps: compare every active part number against its manufacturer lifecycle status, flag EOL, NRND and abnormal lead times, and prepare pin-to-pin or functionally compatible alternates in advance. Hangtong can check lifecycle status in bulk by part number and propose alternatives that are still in production, so a redesign never starts from a panic.
