Thieves stole two trailers with Nvidia and PlusAI logos in Fremont, Calif., last week and may have thought they made a fortune because Nvidia chips have been rising in price, only to find the trailers loaded with 20 tons of sand. Police and company representatives confirmed that two trailers belonging to self-driving truck company PlusAI were stolen from the loading dock at the Fremont warehouse late last Wednesday night. Jocelyn Ren, senior marketing manager at PlusAI, said the two trailers were loaded with a total of 20 tons of sand, which the company used to simulate the weight of the actual cargo during R&D. The trailer was retrieved just minutes from the location of the theft, and after the thief opened the back door of the car and found nothing of value, he abandoned it.
