AMD announced the acquisition of World Labs, an AI startup co-founded by Li Feifei, for a total transaction of about $8.2 billion, paid in full stock. Founded in 2024 by Li Feifei in partnership with Justin Johnson, Christoph Lassner and Ben Mildenhall, World Labs is focused on developing a model of the world, but no product has yet emerged, and it has raised more than $1.2 billion in funding, including from investors including AMD. Upon completion of the transaction, Li Feifei will join AMD as Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist, reporting directly to AMD Chairman and CEO Su Zifeng.
